In some way this announcement reflect some of our members and therefor something we can relate to.
In their own words:
The crew at Ironlak were very disappointed when we got the news Clash Of The Titans had been cancelled, and we know that many of you in Melbourne shared this disappointment. So Ironlak is throwing a free BBQ and a live painting here in Melbourne this weekend to give something back to the community who missed out.
Initially i never started doing graffiti to do canvas or prints or all that stuff but it seems like all things every now and then these situations end up presenting themselves in a fashion thats just not worth turning down..
After a few line up changes and a bit of re-jigging we settled on who wanted to be involved and what each person wanted to do. I’m pretty sure i speak for us all when i say when it comes to these type of scenarios we won’t alter what we do we’ll just do what we do and the viewer will either like it or not like it..
The final line up looked like this – AROE, JIROE, GARY, ROID, STORM, GEBES, TWESH, WANY and ODISY also two guests joined in INSA and NYLON.
Due to the fact that we want everyone to come to the show, we’ve decided to not put too much up on here. But i’m pretty sure as we get more and more of the pics back we’ll not be able to hold back and up the results.
A few distinguished guests and an out of focus ROID canvas.
the extra pics and very natty vid are courtesy of www.garage-studios.co.uk
HERE’S SOME PICS AS PROMISED/THREATENED..
the gallery, JIROE in the window.
ODISY rocks the basement.
So does TWESH..
GARY and JIROE drop this ground floor monster..
Upstairs, INSA on the back wall, the pic i too of the GEBES part had the most unfortunate looking woman in the foreground so i couldn’t use the pic.. sorry mate.
I’m aware that this ROIDS is ill but so are the guards feet?
AROE installation, well part of..
Now if you want to know about pressure check the line up and imagine having to retain your composure against such truly awesome competition..
Wish me luck.
A couple of weeks back HEAVY ARTILLERY affiliate OGRE contacted a couple of us and asked if any of us fancied a free trip to France. Free tins free accomodation free travel you get the vibe..
As it turned out RENCH, ROID and my good self (AROE) took him up on the offer and off we went.
Arrived in LYON and were given a couple of bags of paint and off we went.
Myself and ROID dropped pieces for the upcoming EXCHANGE book so i’m afraid they’ll be staying temporarily on the down low and i’ll leave the RENCH one for him to up at his leisure..
Next day we got up and travelled to St Etienne a city around 45 mins from Lyon. They have a week long hip hop festival and we were guests of this event ‘potos carres 09′ it was a fairly low key affair but the vibe was really nice. Relaxed attitudes and a real mixture of spectators was certainly helped by the fact it was in the central square of this once great footballing city..
Size of boards aside, the event was nice and 25 cans for a piece this big is more than ok..
Special respects go out to SUPADOPE as having developed a moderate understanding of what it is to be from the UK, he managed to do what no other Frenchman has ever managed to do.. He found three cups of tea (with milk!!) to take away..
P.S. There is no method to any of this shit..
GRIS pinched a chunk of the ROID piece before i managed to get a picture, i’m sure ROID has a pic and i’m sure he’ll up it one day somewhere.. The piece still looks dope as hell though.
Not all French houses have three mattresses strewn across the floor but this one did.. This picture was taken just prior to the sushi/French reggae/free booze/smoke-a-thon that we ended up at. And NO French reggae is not a typo..
Next day next piece..
Day 3 we get picked up and taken to a mental warehouse/squat type of situation where the soundsystem was set up and we started painting some long ass wall with next to no paint.. Came out ok though considering.
This one was BRUSK (character) GRIS, AROE, OGRE, RAGE, ROID, RENCH.
Another really relaxed event but this time most of the spectators were writers, Also there was about 100 guys painting.
Back to Lyon and the last pieces before we came home..
Again this was – RENCH RAGE BRUSK GRIS AROE ROID GRIS. (GRIS paints fast)
This spot is a fairly famous Lyon graffiti landmark and gets painted pretty much constantly.
personally i feel the trip was very productive and the new people we met were all very cool. I’d like to say a special thank you to OGRE, GRIS, GOMER, SUPADOPE, BRUSK, The organizers of the POTOS CARRES festival and everyone else we met..
chien kaka rue..
